A tower of great strength, Orthanc was built in the Second Age by the peoples of Numenor. By the middle of the Third Age it was abandoned despite the presence of a Palantir. It was Saruman who then took control of Isengard. By the end of the Third Age the Orcs and Uruk-Hai had dug deep in the pits below the fortress of Orthanc in Isengard, the fallen wizard Saruman’s Orc minions began to tear up rock and earth for their master. Great furnaces they made, stoking the flames with the flailing limbs of trees that once forested the Orthanc tower’s grounds. The ruinous wake of their industry in Isengard was ash and decay. It is in The Two Towers that the furnaces of Isengard will be finally quenched by the efforts of Treebeard and the Ents of Fangorn.
The Lord of the Rings Medallions represent the very best in low-relief artistry. Presented with an aged bronze patina, along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
