Carved in ages past out of black stone, the towering monolith of Orthanc was home to the fallen wizard, Saruman. Once surrounded by parkland and trees, Saruman's Orcs made a wasteland of the tower's grounds to feed their master's foul, fume-belching, subterranean factories.
