Weta's master swordsmith, Peter Lyon, has made this "One-of-a-kind" sword exclusively for Weta's customers. Peter joined Weta in the early days of Lord Of The Rings, and has created all the iconic weapons from the movies - Anduril, Narsil, Glamdring, Sting - all took shape in Peter's smithy. Since then, Peter's work has included Japanese blades for The Last Samurai, fantastical creations for The Chronicles Of Narnia and most recently for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

The Late Medieval Longsword is a sword entirely of Peter's design. It's inspired by medieval European swords and by the mighty Centaur swords from The Chronicles Of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.

Vital statistics:
Blade length: 89.0 cm, Overall length: 117.0 cm, Weight: 1.425 kg, Balance point: 7.8 cm along the blade.

Details:
The straight blade is 90 cm long, and similar to some late medieval cut-and-thrust longswords, with its narrow fuller and elegant taper. Ground from spring steel bar, it has been heat treated to give the best possible combination of toughness and edge hardness. The grip is made of beech wood, covered with leather, with thin cords under the leather creating the curving designs. It is a two handed grip; the foregrip is barrel shaped to give a strong gripping surface, while the waisted shape of the upper grip encourages the second hand to nestle into the inside curves of the pommel.

This sword, together with the beautiful Machaera, are the first two swords by Peter Lyon to be made available to collectors through our website. It's one-of-a-kind. Peter will never make another one exactly the same.
