Artist: Gus Hunter
Born in New Zealand to Samoan
parents, Gus Hunter has been drawing for many years, working as
a freelance illustrator before joining the Visual Effects team
on the hugely successful 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy in
April 2000. In 2002, Gus was asked to be one of only two
conceptual designers on Peter Jackson's latest blockbuster 'King
Kong.' Since then he has produced over 2500 different pieces of
concept art, covering all the various different scenes on 'Skull
Island' and beyond.
One of the iconic images of 'King Kong', this powerful artwork
depicts Kong desperately fighting three powerful V-Rexs in order
to protect the love of his life, Ann Darrow.
This framed print of Gus's artwork
includes a metal title plaque and two spent shell casings - one
.30-06 and one .45 ACP - actually fired on the set of Peter
Jackson's "King Kong". One of the shell casings is from a batch
that Peter Jackson had specially commissioned for the movie,
with "K-K" stamped in the base.
Each print is individually hand
numbered and signed by both Richard Taylor and Gus Hunter.
