This piece is from the 1971 episode "Terror of the Autons" starring Jon Pertwee as the third Doctor, Roger Delgado as the Master and Katy Manning as Jo Grant.
The Doctor and his new assistant Jo Grant must battle two deadly threats at once when the Master, a renegade Time Lord and murderous megalomaniac, appears with a plot to lead the Nestene Consciousness and their plastic servants, the terrifying Autons. By murder and subterfuge, the cunning Master takes over a plastics manufacturing facility and turns it to his own uses, the construction of plastic Auton manikins for inhabitation by the disembodied Nestenes. Using hypnosis to bend others to his will and an array of clever plastic weaponry, he sets in motion his master plan for domination and the doing away with the meddlesome Doctor.
Undergoing eight regenerations in the course of the long running Classic Series, each with their own idiosyncrasies and distinct character, there has been a Doctor for everyone. For those who grew up with Tom Baker's eccentric fourth or Jon Pertwee's dapper third, or perhaps younger fans who only knew Sylvester McCoy's gently spoken seventh Doctor, there will always be a single version with whom they most closely connect. Regardless of preference, all have known the Doctor as a friend. They have joined him in his Tardis, sharing his adventures and fighting Daleks and Cybermen at his side, if sometimes from behind the safety of a sofa.
