King of the Dwarves under the Mountain and possessor of the greatest treasure hoard in all of Middle-earth, Thror reigns supreme from his throne at the heart of the carved city of Erebor. In the king’s treasure halls, innumerable gold coins stamped with his likeness lie stacked thousands deep, yet still Erebor’s living stone walls glitter with criss-crossing veins of unmined wealth: gems, gold and other precious metals.

But for all the Mountain’s riches, it is one stone alone that proclaims the Dwarf Lord’s sovereignty; the Arkenstone. Called the King’s Jewel by Durin’s people, it is a wonderous fragment left over from the forging of the world and has no equal in all of Middle-earth.

Adopting it as proof of his right to rule, Thror sits beneath his mounted prize upon a throne of carven stone, demanding fealty from all neighbouring lands. Receiving his subjects, ever the thought of his treasure rests heavy upon the knitted temples of the King, for a sickness lies upon Thror and his kin; a jealous lust for gold and power that can never be sated, a sickness that will doom his throne and rule the fate of his descendants.
